Guests invited to ‘Witness the Art of Building’ through leading artist’s eyes at TAMEER’s Cityscape Abu Dhabi debut

Witness the Art of Building

TAMEER, the region’s leading real estate group, will host a unique and pioneering exhibition at Cityscape 2008 - a collection of artwork, produced by two of the National foremost artists, focused on the workforces who stand behind the real estate developments in UAE and their many aesthetically-designed building projects.

The exposition, named ‘Witness The Art of Building’, will demonstrate TAMEER¤s strong commitment to local arts and culture, in line with Government efforts, as well as giving an insight into the human perspiration and emotion involved in the construction of the many unique buildings covered by the group¤s activities around the UAE region.

Commenting on the project, TAMEER¤s CEO – Abdallah HAgeali said that it will also emphasise the company¤s social responsibility and respectable corporate culture.

He said: "TAMEER prides itself on being a trusted and reputable company with a tangible human face to every aspect of its business and this fascinating exhibition will show our commitment in a new and exciting manner. Also, we are always keen to support local enterprise and culture and what better way do this than to undertake such a project and involve the hard workers, the most important members of each company.”

The two artists chosen to work on the project were Jalal Luqman and Alia Al Shamsi. Together, they cover a wide spectrum of artistic experience, as Jalal explained.

He commented: “I’m lucky to have worked as a professional artist for many years and this is a project that inspires much interest for me as the buildings and architecture in the UAE are amongst the finest in the world. I’m also very pleased to be part of something that helps up-and-coming artists and photographers, such as Alia, whose work I admire greatly.”

In contrast, Alia Al Shamsi provides an interesting comparison in terms of style and experience, as her photos of TAMEER’s projects show. Commenting on the project, the UAE’s first female photojournalist explained that it provides an ideal opportunity to show her work to a wider audience and gain further recognition.

She said: “To work and exhibit with Jalal is a dream come true for any UAE artist and I’m extremely thankful to TAMEER for giving me this opportunity and supporting local artistic enterprise. I look forward to seeing the two different styles together in one display – I think it will prove to be a very successful combination.”

The subject matter is another unique aspect of the exhibition, as it primarily focuses on the human emotions involved in making epic constructions possible. Capturing a wide range of feelings, from perseverance to pride, this angle was key to the two artist’s work and is something that hasn’t been captured in such a way before.

Jalal explains: “It came in the form of me taking the emotions of the workers on the Tameer projects and using them as the subject of my paintings. Usually, you see people sitting comfortably in very elaborate offices wearing elegant outfit, selling the properties. You do not see people who are actually after building these properties.”

Cityscape Abu Dhabi 2008 is an international property and real estate exhibition that takes place over 13th – 15th May. Over 15,000 individuals attended in 2007 and the event attracts regional and international visitors with an interest in all aspects of the industry, from architects to large-scale property investors.
